26 Yard Tour 2

The '26 Sustainable Yard Tour is Here

New Time: Sunday August 2nd, 10:00am to 2:00 pm
Due to the rainy forecast for Saturday, the yard tour has been pushed back to the same time on Sunday.

Visit your Deerfield neighbors and the Deerfield Historic Village and get great ideas on creating a native pollinator garden, a fun fairy garden, and foodscaping your yard with veggies and fruit. See rooftop solar, EV chargers, and electric yard gear, get home composter and curbside composting info, ID native bumblebees, and learn about backyard chicken keeping right in town!

Don’t have time to visit them all? Visit as many as you like at your own pace. FREE! No reservation needed. KID FRIENDLY–esp for petting zoo chicken lovers!

Join us for Green Drinks!

Wednesday, August 19th – 6:00pm at Italian Kitchen

This month’s Green Drinks features Deerfield’s own Dan Sandacz. Dan is a restoration ecologist with the Lake County Forest Preserves, specializing in the interactions between pollinators and native plants. He will present his latest research and field work on the abundance of pollinators and their host flowers in the region, as well as helpful information on how you can support bumblebees, butterflies and other beneficial insects with the right plantings in your yard. Plus he’ll have amazing photographs and samples of his pollinator-friendly work to share with attendees. As always there is no fee and everyone is welcome. We hope to see you there!
