Courting Businesses & Non-Profits to Expand Native Habitats

This month’s Green Drinks features Marilyn Fish, cofounder of the conservation group Monarchs, Milkweed and More. Marilyn will talk about her work in the community encouraging local businesses and organizations to convert hardscapes, turf and other low-quality areas into native areas that support wildlife in a sustainable way. She will share the incentives and benefits of native gardening along with advice on getting started with native plantings. Whether you are a small business or landowner or just a member of a household, whether you are experienced with gardening or a complete beginner, Marilyn will share how she and MMM are able to support native planting projects in the community.
Green Drinks events are an opportunity to informally socialize, network, have a drink or a meal, and learn about green topics in the Deerfield area. Everyone in the community is welcome, no tickets are needed, and admission is free.
Monarchs, Milkweed, and More promotes native plantings to enhance habitats for monarchs and all wildlife through education, community programs, and collaboration. Located in Northbrook but engaged with the larger community, MMM has supported projects with the Northbrook Park District at Floral Park, Beth El Synagogue in Northbrook, and Underwriters Laboratories. They also support native plant sales across the Chicago area and can be found at community events all over the North Shore.
