Shaw Prairie Day 5-Year Celebration

November 7 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Shaw Prairie Day

The Skokie River Nature Preserve has an exceptionally rare resource: Shaw Prairie. It includes portions of remnant prairie, parts of which have gone mostly undisturbed for thousands of years. This critically endangered ecosystem contains some of the highest quality plant communities found in Illinois.

Join the Shaw Prairie Stewards at Skokie River Nature Preserve in Lake Forest on Saturday, November 7th from 9 to noon for a special workday celebrating five years of restoration work. Activities will include brush cutting and plant identification while gathering seeds. We’ll also celebrate with cake and treats while sharing information from the past five years of restoration progress.

Please RSVP via our website or reach out with questions at: shawcommunity@friendsilnature.org.

Be sure to wear long sleeves, long pants, and appropriate shoes and please bring your own water.

Directions: Skokie River Nature Preserve – Meet in the parking lot on Laurel Avenue. Obey all parking signs including temporary ones for this event.
