Spring woodland walk with an Ecologist
April 19, 2020 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Join members of Go Green Deerfield and an Ecologist for an early Spring walk through wooded and partly-wooded trails in Briarwood Park and Trail Park.
This walk will showcase Spring “ephemeral” flowering plants like Trillium species, Jack-in-the-pulpit, Trout lilies, Wild Hyacinth, Wild blue phlox, and Virginia Bluebells, which flower and feed bumblebees and other pollinators when few other plants are flowering. As the heat and dryness of the summer approaches, these plants fade away, hence the term “ephemeral”, or lasting a short time.
Be prepared for the ever-changing weather, and make sure you wear water-proof boots.
The walk will start at 12:00pm and last for an hour.
This event is family friendly!! Kids reap many benefits to their health and emotional well-being spending time outdoors and experiencing nature.
