SUMMARY:Spring Ephemeral Walk at Briarwood Park
DESCRIPTION:Take a stroll with members of the Deerfield Park District and Go Green Deerfield through one of Deerfield’s woodland gems\, and learn about our native spring ephemeral plants. \nThese spring beauties emerge and bloom before the trees leaf out\, then fade away until next spring. \nSee plants like mayapple\, trillium\, spring beauties\, Jack in the pulpit\, hepatica\, and more! \nLeading the tour is Rob Sulski\, who has many years of experience working with native plants and in woodland and prairie restoration. \nLong pants and closed toe shoes are highly encouraged\, as well as staying on the trail.  Another native plant that is emerging is poison ivy!  (*This walk is a great time to learn how to identify it)

SUMMARY:Go Green Deerfield volunteer work day at Briarwood Park
DESCRIPTION:Join members of Go Green Deerfield and the Deerfield Park District to help restore our local woodland by removing invasive plants such as garlic mustard\, dame’s rocket\, multiflora rose\, and buckthorn at Briarwood Park. Important work was done on Chicago River Day\, but much more needs to be done! \nRemoving invasives ensures that native plants and trees get enough sunlight\, water\, and nutrients to grow\, and is essential in maintaining a healthy woodland. \nMeet at the parking lot entrance to Briarwood Park\, 300 River Rd. \n12:00 to 2:00 pm \nRain or shine—>UNLESS there are storms or downpour rain.  Dress appropriately for the weather. \nOptional:  Garden gloves\, hand tools\, shovel\, spade\, loppers\, hand saw. \n*Strongly suggest long pants and sleeves\, and safety goggles/eyeglasses.  Insect repellent also helpful for a tick deterrent. \nEmail Amy acall71@gmail.com with questions.
