SUMMARY:Seed Starting for Your Garden
DESCRIPTION:SWALCO and University of Illinois Extension Master Gardeners Announce 2022 Learning Series\nGardening and food bring people together. They foster a sense of enjoyment\, peace\, security\, health and well-being. More individuals and families are reaching out and interested in learning how to start a garden while others are excited to learn how to compost. And\, for those who are already gardening\, perhaps we can help you “up” your gardening game. \nThe Garden Learning Series features a number of workshops to help and educate on a variety of topics. The first program will cover seed starting for your garden and of course\, we will offer a program dedicated to compost and composting! Workshops will be held the second Wednesday of the month from 6:00-7:30 p.m. A list of upcoming topics and workshops can be found on the SWALCO site. \nThis program series is offered in collaboration with University of Illinois Extension and Master Gardeners via a two-year grant that SWALCO received from USDA. The grant focuses on efforts to promote composting and food waste diversion\, and also hopes to increase the generation and use of compost in commercial\, residential\, agriculture\, and community gardens sectors in Lake County. Registration is free for all\, thanks to the grant.
